About DETA Friends

DETA Friends provides equitable access to sports and physical activity by supporting children, adults and families in high-need communities to achieve their greatest potential, on the field, on the court and in life.

We create opportunities through instruction, tournaments, donations of sports equipment, apparel, and footwear and programming. We provide scholarships to offset the cost of our programs.

Our goal is to improve access through the following:

  • Increasing the total numbers of children, adults and families participating in our sports programming.

  • Enhancing the experience for all involved

  • Creating new opportunities for the people we serve.

Our Programs

  • Youth tennis camps

  • Tennis instruction for people of all ages

  • Wheelchair tennis (the only ongoing program in Miami-Dade County)

  • Pickleball clinics for youth and adults

  • Pickleball instruction

  • Tennis after-school, holiday camps and summer camps
